Sydney's mythical beach proves worthy of its reputation. After all, Bondi has had its name since 1827, owing it to an aborigine word which means the sound of the wave crashing onto the rocks. However, it owes its essential image to the army of life-savers that have untiringly patrolled the bay since 1906. Under the paving stones of the Bondi Life Saving Club is a page of history. Today, as they are so well known and famous, SKY Television is broadcasting a documentary named “Baywatch in Australia” on Nat-Geo Adventure.
Bondi is where the first sea life-saving center in the world was created on 6 February, 1906. The Australians will never let anyone forget that.
